Grand Finalists arrived at the famous 4 star Hotel
Rasmushof in Kitzbuhel, Austria having battled
their way through their respective divisions,
plays offs and Regional Finals, not to mention
the unpredictable British weather.
Three
Mens Teams and two Ladies teams arrived at the
outstanding Schwarzsee Golf Club to play for the
crown of the Mens and Ladies MW Golf Team Classic
Championships. After 2 days of glorious sunshine,
they played their 1st round under the shadow of
the Hahnenkamm Mountains (home of the Kitzbuhel
World Cup Downhill) but unfortunately in torrential
rain. They battled through with 1st round leaders
of Jack Bennett and his team from Kirkistown Castle
and Pauline Davies and her team from Royal Winchester.
After a day off, where they saw the sites of Salzburg
and the beautiful mountains surrounding Kitzbuhel,
round two commenced. Another format of golf, another
day and I am pleased to say the weather was kind
to us. The leaders changed hands in the Mens event
with Old Fold Manor now taking over.
Fun
was had by all at the hilarious Tyrolean evening
with thigh slapping and entertainment in typical
Tyrolean style where some of the competitors were
coaxed to dance on the stage with the Austrians.
What a great night!
Onto
the last day, all 4 scores counted so the pressure
was on. Old Fold Manor and Royal Winchester both
held their nerve and were crowned our Champions
at a dinner held at the Hotel Rasmushof. Prizes
were presented by the owner, Signe Kramheller-Reisch
and the Overseas director of MW Golf, Mr Karl
Hustwick. Prizes were awarded to all the competitiors
by MW Golf, The Schwarzsee Golf Club, the Hotel
Rasmushof and ourselves but a special prize of
a 3 day trip with 2 rounds of Golf to Austria
was presented by MW Golf to the highest scoring
individual in the Ladies event( Fiona McComb -37
points ) and the Mens event( Jack Bennett - 43 points )
on the last day when Individual Stableford was
played.
The
golf played was truly outstanding on a challenging
course with spectacular views, the friendships
gained were remarkable and the spirit and camaraderie
was second to none. It was pure delight to host
such a well-spirited event with such a friendly
atmosphere by all parties concerned.
A

even when golf bags have been lost. He will do
anything to make your trip a happy and memorable
